1.7L Long Canes

Why Long Canes?

Picture
Picture
Increased Production
Our long canes have a minimum of 20 growing nodes, providing consistently high yields. By staggering planting dates of new canes, growers can extend their harvest season and maintain consistently high production.
Chilling Optimization
Growers received prechilled canes, ready to produce within 70 day. Our monitored winter storage eliminates the probability of winter injury and ensures canes have accumulated the necessary chilling hours required for optimal, reliable production.

Irrigation and Nutrient Management
By consistently monitoring plants, growers can efficiently provide the optimal amount of irrigation and nutrients that the plant requires at every stage of growth.
Combats Disease and Pests
Potted production combats devastating soil borne disease and pests. By eliminating direct ground contact, we provide a more controlled and protected growing environment, supporting healthier canes.

Grow Guide

Planting
When you receive Ready-Set-Grow raspberry long canes, they will arrive dormant in 1.7L pots, layered in crates. Each pot contains two canes. For best root growth, transplant into larger 7L pots with a porous substrate such as coco coir. Lightly packed, well-draining substrates encourage the proper drainage needed for healthy roots.
Recommended plant spacing is 3 pots per meter, in a single row. Long canes need to be attached to a stable trellis system. Additional lateral supports are required to stabilize lateral growth and increase air flow in the plant, improving picking efficiency. We recommend growing long canes in a covered shelter to protect the fruit from dew and rain, increasing the shelf life.
To extend your fruiting harvest, we recommend staggering your planting dates. Growers can expect fruit production to begin about 70 days after planting, yielding for 4-6 weeks.

Growing Environment
Throughout the entire growing season, monitor irrigation and fertigation strategies for each growing stage: bloom, green fruit, and harvest. Always avoid saturated pots in the late afternoon and evening. Adequate airflow and diffused light provide an ideal growing environment for healthy plants and optimal fruit production.
Pest pressures can be controlled in your growing environment by picking clean, harvesting often and maintain a weed free growing zone. Honeybees are recommended as the most efficient pollinators for raspberry plants. Biological insects have the capacity to be beneficial to growers, aiding in controlling several pests such as Spider Mite, Thrips, and Aphids.
